Glacier Probus Club
Monthly Gathering 6th October 2016
President Katie Hubberstey welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Announcements
Katie said that the membership was currently standing at 171 and that we had had 27 new members since our last Meet & Greet. She said that we would be holding the next Meet &Greet on the 21st October and invitations would be sent out in the next few days. She welcomed those new members who were present together with one guest.
Everyone was told that the tickets for the Christmas party were on sale today and would also be available at the November monthly gathering. Tickets can also be ordered online and as they are limited to 80 everyone is encouraged to buy early. (Tricia noted that the tickets are selling very quickly so don’t leave it too long.)
Katie spoke of the sad passing of Ramsay Poucher, a charter member of our club and offered our condolences to his wife Sharon.
Katie introduced Carole Dickinson and Bev Golem who profiled the Dining Out group. Carole and Bev explained the new format of the Dining Out group and said they would welcome new members to the group. The emphasis is on having a variety of dining out experiences together with socialising.
Katie then asked Tony to introduce this month’s speaker Danny Bereza. Danny gave an interesting and amusing presentation of his time as an Artic pilot.
Tony thanked Danny for his presentation and gave him an Everson print of the Comox Glacier as a thank you from the club.
Katie then drew the tickets for the door prizes the winners of which were: Mary Anne Tait and Sharon Withey.
Katie thanked everyone for coming and wished them a safe journey home.
