President Ray Fast welcomed everyone to the meeting. Ray particularly welcomed our two new members
Cheryl Bakke and Mary Ann Tait, and our three guests Linda Ferns and Yvonne and Norman Arnason.
Ray then introduced Liz McCulloch who was profiling the Bridge group at this month’s gathering. He also said
that Steve Horn was prepared to try and set up a snowshoeing group if there was sufficient interest. More details of this will be in the Mid-month newsletter for November.
Ray then asked Vice President Katie Hubberstey to introduce this month’s speakers. Katie welcomed Ian
Kennedy and Margaret Horsfield who presented an interesting and detailed story and slide show about the
history of Tofino & Clayoquot Sound. Ian had spoken at one of our first meetings on the history of
Courtenay. Ian and Margaret have written a book “Tofino & Clayoquot Sound: A History” and copies of the book were available for sale at the meeting.
Katie thanked Ian and Margaret for their presentation and gave them a copy of the Glacier Print.
Ray then drew for the door prize which this month was donated by Sally Giblak and won by our guest Yvonne
Arnason.
Ray reminded everyone that they could buy tickets for the club’s Christmas dinner & dance on the 16th December at the registration table and also pay for the wine & appies 'Tapas and Wine' evening on 11th
December. He thanked everyone for coming and wished them a safe journey home.
