Glacier Probus Club
Monthly Gathering 2nd March 2017
President Katie Hubberstey welcomed everyone to the March meeting of 2017, Katie said she liked to recognise what was special in each month but didn’t really like dressing up but in the spirit of “Paddy’s Day” we had donned the ‘funny green hats’.
There was one new member and 4 guests who Katie welcomed.
Katie informed the members present that the Management Committee had been working on the Club’s Bylaws. She said this was to remove some anomalies, bring the membership and year end dates in to line with our Financial Year and to clear up any ambiguities in the language used.
Katie proposed the motion that A Special General Meeting would be held at the Monthly Gathering on the 6th April at which time the membership would be asked to vote on the Bylaws as amended. Motion seconded by Linda Leslie and passed unanimously.
Katie introduced Keith Millard the Club’s Technology Director. Keith gave the background as to how he had come to use the Photo of the Glacier as the club’s Logo and said he had recently learnt it had been taken by club member Bill Jorgensen to whom it was now attributed. Keith then played a short video so we would all learn the ‘true’ facts about St Paddy’s Day.
Katie announced that there was to be a Meet & Greet on 23rd March for new members and an Activity Coordinator’s lunch on the 19th April. Invitations to both these would be sent out soon.
Special Event Director Michele announced that the Bowling night was back by popular demand and a note as to the date would be sent out soon. Michele also said that PRISMA was on 17th June and interested members would soon be able to sign up.
Edie & Murray gave an entertaining profile of the Lunch Bunch Group and said it was always open to new members.
Katie asked Tony Nicol to introduce this month’s speaker Dennis Richardson from Purple Shield Financial Planning who gave a presentation neatly titled “Living Well- Leaving well”. Denis’ presentation was very informative and well received.
Tony thanked Dennis.
Katie drew the tickets for the door prizes the winners of which were: Brian Liberman and Al Sabey. Denis had also brought a door prize which was won by Donna Young.
Katie thanked everyone for coming and wished them a safe journey home.
