Monthly Gathering
5 October 2017
President Katie Hubbertsey welcomed everyone to the October Monthly Gathering and said she was delighted to see so many members present. Katie welcomed new member Glen Sanderson and also four guests.
Katie introduced James Kennedy as the new Technology Director. She said no one had stepped forward to take on the role of Special Events Director so these events would for the moment be on an ad hoc basis. She went on to say that she would be organising a Bowling evening in the near future. Katie said there would be a Meet & Greet on 24th October for new members and that invitations had been sent out.
Katie introduced Robin Pearson who has offered to do a Dance class. Robin said he planned to do a 4 week course which would cover the Waltz, Foxtrot and Jive. He said 13 members had signed up so there was still room if anyone else was interested. He said there was a sign up sheet on the website.
Katie announced that the tickets for the Christmas party were on sale today and would also be available at the November monthly gathering. Katie said they could also be ordered online and as they were limited to 80 she encouraged everyone to buy early.
Tony introduced the first of this month’s speakers Christine Dickinson from the Elder College who showed a video and spoke of all the opportunities offered by the College.
Tony then introduced the second speakers Gord Thompson and Bronwyn Beedle from Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue. Gord and Bronwyn gave a most interesting presentation of the training required and the work of the Rescue Group
Tony thanked both speakers for their presentations.
Nancy did the draw for this month’s gift certificates which were won by Steve Horn and Jane Kelliher.
Nancy and Katie then drew the tickets for this month’s $25 gift vouchers, the winners were
Katie thanked everyone for coming and wished then a safe journey home.
