Random Readers met recently and shared good conversation, good snacks, and of course, good books. We are a relaxed group that meets once a month to share something interesting we have read recently. Good fun, great conversations! Our next meeting is Wed, April 11. Join us.
And here is a book review Genevieve wishes to share with everyone.

“Plainsong” by Kent Haruf
Kent Haruf weaves a story using a handful of characters in a small Colorado town. It is a
small town like so many small towns scattered throughout North America; easily recognizable.
The characters are Guthrie (a school teacher) and his wife, Ike & Bobby (their young sons),
Maggie (also a school teacher), the McPheron brothers (reclusive bachelor farmers),
Victoria Ribodeaux (a teenage girl) and Dwayne (a teenage boy). The story reads like
a cross between “Stand by Me” and “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Plainsong sings of simple
everyday people with stories to tell and a community woven together as if it were a
well-formed choir. A delightful read.
