It was an interesting day for the Birders at the Courtenay Airpark as they searched for anything feathered along their route. A bonus was the sight of a row of seals lined up side-by-side along the edge of an islet on the far side of the Bay. Must have been soaking up the sunrays!
Click on ebird.org/checklist/S154648047 (a link provided by Bill S.) to see the list of birds sighted on our outing - 26 species in all. It is always a challenge to identify Cackling Geese (as opposed to Canada Geese) but the photo shown below is a definite sample of the former. Also of interest is the series of two photos showing a Belted Kingfisher coughing up a pellet of indigestible food. Interesting! As always, we welcome any discussion on bird identifications.
