A few brave hikers hit the Cumberland Forest trails armed with spikes and studs. We started out with a light dusting of snow on otherwise bare trails. Even though we kept to the lower quarter of the hillside we were into a surprising amount of snow in short order. So most of our hike was on uneven hard packed snow and ice. Lots of fallen trees to climb over or duck under added to the adventure. Fortunately our traction aids worked very well and the predicted wind didn't materialize so we were comfortable.
