With an abundance of fresh snow we headed up the Great Big View trail. We were fortunate that a group had tackled the trail shortly before us, otherwise we would have had to break trail up the steep 100 meter climb. It was enough of a workout as it was. Finger Glades was not open yet so we made our way north through the upper meadows, part of the way through fresh untracked snow. All was going well until we reached an inviting clearing with a beautiful view. Little did we know that a few centimeters below the smooth snow lurked the tops of small trees. This became apparent as some of us were suddenly up to our waist in snow. Fortunately after enjoying the humor of the situation and taking lots of pictures, those still standing helped extricate the submerged members. We agreed that there was more laughter on this snowshoe trip than any other that did not include adult beverages.
