On this sunny Sunday, we drove up the old Island highway to Campbell River, over to Buttle Lake and down the lake as far as Ralph River stopping for our picnic lunch at the Karst Creek Picnic Grounds. Ben, our schnoodle, came along for the ride. We brought lunch in our Canadian Tire cooler ~ salmon sandwiches, vegetables, cherries and gingerbread cookies with bottled water to drink.
Returning, we diverted to the Buttle Lake Campground where our son Gordon, his wife Alanna and their daughter Clara had gone camping for the weekend. We stayed about an hour and left the rest of the gingerbread cookies for Clara. Ben had a poop on the beach that Ian cleaned up. Back at Campbell River we took the new Island Highway down to the Strathcona Parkway exit returning to Courtenay via Dove Creek Road.
A good day in a wonderful part of the world.
