Lynda Evans from the Ladysmith Probus Club reports; We had a big turnout for two speakers who talked about alternative, altruistic and less expensive ways to travel at one of our meetings.
One was a representative, Angela Laws, from TustedHousesitters.com which is a website where you can find a house sit in most countries in the world. They usually involve at least one pet to look after but some are without pets. You can also get a house sitter(and pet sitter through this site). The house and maybe pet sitters are not paid. In exchange for looking after the house and pets they get free accommodation in the homeowners house only.
Angela lives in Vancouver and I think TrustedHousesitters.com paid her ferry costs. As requested, Angela did talk about the pros and cons of housesitting and doing due diligence in finding a house and/or pet sitter.
