RE: Worthy Gallery, Cumberland, current show
Daniel's self description as an iconoclast is right on. Prepare to be disturbed and amused and entertained. Judging from the reactions of the folks at the well attended opening on Friday evening, art that makes us think can be uncomfortable. Too often the art we see is eye candy and while there certainly is a place for only beauty in art this show is a whole lot more. There were lots of audience comments about the wonderful execution and the creative and very professional framing but many of us didn't know what to say about the content. Fascinating and evocative but also bewildering until you talk to the artist who articulately explains his inspiration. He tells his stories through painting and sculpture. It may be the view of the world from the timeless perspective of a spider or " challenging the Holy See's icons ". Well worth a visit.
