Thanks to a day's break in the rain, the Bird Group was able to get out on an outing on Thursday. Parking at the end of Royston's Hilton Rd, the participants checked out the waterbirds and shorebirds before finishing off with a walk down the Royston Seaside Trail. Nice as it was to be out on a sunny day, the sun's rays made photographing a bit difficult as the birdlife often seemed to be found where the sun was glinting off water and seaweed. Please excuse the resulting less-than perfect shots shown below...
Birds found today were: Gulls, Eagles, Grebes, European Starling, Goldeneyes, Mallards, Wigeons, Red-breasted Mergansers, Common Mergansers, Common Loon, Black-bellied Plovers, Yellowlegs, Spotted Towhee, Song Sparrows and a Red-crowned Kinglet.
It turned out that the Strollers Group was also out on the Seaside Trail, so the two groups met and mingled for a while.
