An excellent way to finish off the year: a number of birders headed back to the Airpark to check out the birdlife under high tide conditions and were very pleased with the results. From the very start of our walk to the end, we were spotting birds, ending up with a species count of 30 - our best result to date! The species noted were: American Goldfinch, Song Sparrow, Golden-crowned Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Fox Sparrow, Anna's Hummingbird, European Starling, Eurasian Collared-dove, Dark-eyed Junco, House Finch, Spotted Towhee, Red-winged Blackbird, Brewer's Blackbird, American Robin, Bewick's Wren, American Crow, Common Raven, Northern Flicker, Bald Eagle, Rock Pigeon (Feral Pigeon), Canada Goose, American Wigeon, Mallard, Green-winged Teal, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, Common Merganser, gulls, including Glaucous-winged Gull, Great Blue Heron, Surf Scoter.
