On a crisp winter afternoon under sunny skies, a number of our birding enthusiasts headed to Fanny Bay's Ship's Point area for a look at the bird life around Mud Bay and Ship's Point Park. Not much to be seen at Mud Bay, unfortunately...just Mallards and American Wigeons, for the most part. At one point along our Mud Bay route, we ended up in Walden's Way (Wacky Woods), where we spent a short time amusing ourselves by checking out the oddities added to the woodland scene. A favourite was the hummingbird at a favourite flower (guess that's one way of sighting birdlife!).
Onwards to Ship's Point Park, where we hit the jackpot for birds. Roaming about the shoreline, we sighted White-winged and Surf Scoters, a Horned Grebe, Scaups, Barrow's and Common Goldeneyes, Oystercatchers, American Wigeons and, of course, Mallards and Gulls.
Thank you, Robin Harrison, for your Oystercatcher photo.
