The destination for our final bird outing of the season was Sandwick Park in East Courtenay. A good time was had by all as we tried to detect the birds making all the bird chatter around us (okay...we were chattering as well!). The species count wasn't very high today, but we did see a fair number of each. Following the outing, most participants headed to Dawn and Gil's home for a debrief with tea/coffee and nibblies.
Fourteen bird species detected: American Robins, Song Sparrows, Spotted Towhee (by sound), Swainson's Thrush (by sound), hummingbirds, Yellow Warbler, Orange-crowned Warbler, Cedar Waxwings, Violet-green Swallows, House Finches, Northern Flickers, Red-winged Blackbirds, Turkey Vulture and Mallards.
