The Birding Group had its first outing of the new Season on Sunday, completing the Airpark loop in a two-hour span(!). There wasn't a large variety of birds noted, but we were very lucky with one of our sightings - a Tropical Kingbird is spending a few days in the Airpark area and we actually had the opportunity to watch it for awhile. It's a Flycatcher which is normally found in Mexico and which has been noted in the Valley a grand total of 7 times since 1970, according to statistics. Lucky us! Also sighted during our walk were: Gulls, Crows, Bald Eagles, Belted Kingfisher, American Wigeons, Canada Geese, Domestic white Geese, Mallards, Great Blue Herons, American Coots, Red-winged Blackbirds, European Starlings, Fox Sparrow and....the Tropical Kingbird (gotta repeat that one!).
