This foggy Friday the 13th day found a few of our birders at the Little River Nature Sanctuary, prepared to do the birding loop over to the Powell River Ferry terminal and back. The fog started lifting shortly after we commenced our walk, so was not really a problem other than to mute the colours in photos. All in all, we successfully completed our circuit, racking up a total of 29 species noted:
European Starling, Stellar's Jay, Hooded Merganser, Northern Flicker, Pileated Woodpecker, Spotted Towhee, Bushtit, Savannah Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Fox Sparrow, Golden-crowned Sparrow, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Bald Eagle, House Finch, Dark-eyed Junco, American Crow, Common Raven, Hooded Merganser, Green-winged Teal, Common Loon, Red-necked Grebe, Horned Grebe, White-winged Scoter, Black-bellied Plover, Killdeer, Mallard, American Wigeon and gulls.
Feel free to disagree with identifications of birds shown below - it would be great to get a discussion going!
