A number of birders headed to the Airpark on what was forecast as a partly sunny day. Nope- no sun and the tide was a lot lower than expected. We are an adaptable group and nothing could mar our enthusiasm and cheerful chatter. Not even the rather sparce showing of birdlife with most birds making their appearance in the far distance over the water or high up in trees. Still, with the use of Bill S.'s scope and available cameras, we were able to at least identify what we were seeing.
The bird-list for the day: American Wigeons, a Eurasian Wigeon, Mallards, gulls, Canada Geese, Buffleheads, Common Mergansers, Red-breasted Merganser, Green-winged Teals, Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagles, Northern Flickers, Song Sparrows, Spotted Towhee, European Starlings, Red-winged Blackbirds and Brewer's Blackbirds.
Ian T. has added an artistic slant to the bird photos he submitted...Thanks, Ian. Dawn M.'s photos rounds out the selection.
