A window of opportunity showed up in the weather forecast for Sunday afternoon, so the hiking group jumped at the chance of a dry outing after so much rain and headed for the NE Woods trailhead at the end of Torrence Rd in Comox. The recent rains meant muddy patches along the trail, but all were easily negotiable and we were so glad to stretch our legs while out enjoying nature. Our route took us down to the seashore off Curtis Rd, where we had an enjoyable restbreak while soaking up some sun. On the way back, we diverted to the Lazo Nature Sanctuary to check on the birds - Chickadees, Stellar Jays and Red-winged Blackbirds gathered around for a chance at our bird seed. Post-hike coffees were a welcome end to the outing, at Comox Quality Foods.
