For this hike we returned to the Briardale trail head. Our goal was to find a loop that included the scenic Moe's Misery trail along the edge of the Trent River valley and a visit to the marsh by the power lines. A trail that showed up on some maps showed promise to complete the loop without as much distance on logging roads as with a more familiar route. We found said trail and were able to follow it as it's condition gradually deteriorated. Unfortunately with only meters to go to connect the loop we encountered a tributary of Hart Creek with a very slippery looking log across it. Not wanting to risk a cold dip we back tracked to the main trails. This didn't add significantly to the length of our hike but it did mean that we missed our visit to the viewing platform by the marsh. Perhaps we will check out this route again after a long spell of dry weather. Debrief was at the Royston Roasting Coffee House.
