Friday, February 9th found a good turnout of hikers assembled at our Elk Falls trailhead along the Campbell River, eager to stretch their legs on the Canyon View/Millennium/Elk Falls trail system. Over the next few hours, we reveled in the beauty of the day and the scenic vistas along the way. Elk Falls put on a great performance for us due to the present extended water release from the John Hart Dam. We expected to make a detour around a mud slide on the far side of the Campbell River on our way back, but there are already temporary (unofficial) measures in place to get over the slide zone. There were a number of new hikers and one guest along for the outing and all seemed to rate the day as a success.
You might like to compare the Elk Falls flow from today with scenes from past hikes. If so, check out Oct 2016 outing (high flow) and Oct 2015 outing (low flow).
Check out Rick Leche's photos and Bill Jorgensen's photos for more outing views. Thanks for sharing, Bill and Rick!
