What a way to end the year on a high note - with a brisk hike in the woods! Fifteen hikers gathered at the Nymph Falls parking lot to see if the snowy conditions would allow passage as far as the BC Hydro picnic site at Comox Lake and I am happy to relate that we were successful. We started off with a detour to check out the Falls, which presented beautifully under the sunny skies and white background. Then, it was off to tackle the trail system, which proved to be well used by the public and so quite passable. It didn't take long to warm up under the sub-zero temperatures though, due to the exertion of dealing with slightly mushy conditions which made most of us thankful to have added cleats to our boots. It appeared at times that we were taking two steps forward and one step back! Add to that the trickle of snow down the neck from accumulated white stuff falling off tree branches above and ....well it just all added to the frivolity of the moment
