Almost 20 very social seniors hike a route with mud, snow, ice, fallen trees and a stream to cross... What could go wrong? As it turns out, nothing. A variety of spikes and cleats dug into the ice in the forest, and aerated lawns in the clearings. We all stayed upright as we passed through the forest beside North Island College, then Cruickshank, Sandwick and Muir/McLauchlin Parks, the Courtenay Cemetary, Vanier Nature Park and sports field, The Exhibition Grounds and the Tsolum River trails. After a riverside lunch we retraced our steps back to the college.
