A group of our hikers made the first excursion of the season up to Croteau Lake, one of the variety of lakes to be found above Paradise Meadows on Mt. Washington. The purpose of the hike was to 'test the waters' - to see if the snows have receded from this area yet. Yes, they have. Rah! Muddy patches were easily negotiable, the day was cloudy but good for hiking and the hikers were just glad to be on the mountain trails again. A few snowy patches in the region are an indicator that it might still be a few weeks before our list of destinations are all accessible, but we are glad to see that we can start stretching our legs on at least some of the hills.
