The hike up to Mt Washington last Saturday proved to be a popular one, with eighteen members heading off on the Helen Mackenzie/Battleship Lakes loop. It turned out to be a lovely day, so we didn't maintain a fast clip to our pace, opting instead to enjoy our first hike-of-the-season up the "Hill" by frequently pausing to enjoy the landscape and the flowers, refraining from making snowballs out of the rather infrequent trailside snow. A short pause at Lake Helen Mackenzie for snacks and then a longer stop at Battleship Lake for our lunch extended the outing to just over 3 hours for the approximately 9km route. We couldn't resist finishing off the Paradise Meadows loop to complete a lovely day. Our "debrief" was held at the Bar and Grill in the Alpine Village.
