During a sunny break from Juneuary two groups hiked on Cumberland mountain bike trails to Nikkei Mountain.
One group led by Bill followed a 16 kilometer loop that included many of his favorite areas of the Cumberland Forest, including the Nikkei summit, the Fuji Jim viewpoint and the Rapture Cliff trail below, and Munday's Child/Josh's trails in the tall trees beside the ponds and creek.

Gil and Dawn's group followed a familiar route which included Nikkei Mt and Allen Lake. Our ascent of Nikkei was a bit of a slog, but the exercise was welcome and we took our time, feeling quite triumphant upon reaching the summit. For our descent from the mountain, we used the new Nikkei Climb/Red Tape trail, finding it a welcome improvement to the Ridge Trail Access route we have used in the past. Lunch was enjoyed on the rocks by Allen Lake before we headed back to the trailhead. A lovely day.
