Since the Coordinators of the Hiking Group were camping in the Campbell River this past week, they announced two hikes in the area, for the 23 and the 24th of May. Wednesday's hike was over the Elk Falls/Millennium/Canyon View trail system. The day was a very warm one, so the 4 participants held to a relaxed pace. Flow was up on the Campbell River, giving great viewing opportunities at the Falls. It was an enjoyable outing, followed by a 'debrief' at our campsite at the Quinsam River Campground.
On Thursday, a larger group appeared from Courtenay, swelling the participant count to twelve. We all met at the Ripple Rock trailhead and quickly set off for its viewpoint over Seymour Narrows. It was great to stretch our legs on this route once more - the uphill sections certainly do that! Lunch at the viewpoint is always a welcome break, as we lounged about, enjoying the wonderful scenery. The 'debrief' for this hike was held at the Rip Tide Pub, on Campbell River's waterfront.
Bill Jorgensen has supplied a LINK to his usual interesting hike photos - thanks Bill!
