Our Hornby Island hike got off to an exciting start. While we waited to board the Hornby ferry the crew alerted us to orcas swimming past the dock. That helped us forget about the steady drizzle for a while. As we made our way up to the Mount Geoffrey Middle Bench Trail the rain became very light and intermittent, allowing us to shed rain gear. Views from the escarpment were spectacular as usual. Once we reached Ford Cove most of us lingered for almost two hours. After lunch we explored the rock formations and tide pools on the foreshore south of the cove. The lower seaside trail took us back to the ferry.
