The Green Road by Anne Enright
This book is worth reading if only for the brilliant writing style of Anne Enright. In this book, she carries the reader to places in the world (New York’s Gay Village, a village in Mali and Cambodia’s killing fields, Toronto, Dublin, and…oh yes, the stunning beauty of Ireland’s east coast). She also takes the reader into the extraordinary places in our everyday lives via the four grown up children of Rosaleen Madigan. One day, the children are brought together at Christmas to discuss their aging mother’s desire to sell the family home. This book is a “very intimate portrait of our times” written with amazing detail, insight and humour.
