It's good to end the season on a high note. Our snowshoe season finale accomplished that. For the first hour it was cold enough to allow us to easily walk anywhere on the snow's firm crust. The snow gradually softened while we were out, requiring more effort to move along. We made our way down Paradise Meadows beside Paradise Creek to the Jackrabbit Link ski trail. Then we headed back toward the lodge on the other side of the creek. We stopped above one of the big ponds for lunch and celebratory beverages in the warm sun. On the last leg of our trip some light wet snow made us appreciate our sunny lunch stop.
