Not to be outdone by the record number of participants in the Hiking Group’s outing last week, the Snowshoeing Group also had 19 eager participants come out for today’s snowshoeing event on the marked trails in Paradise Meadows. The fog dissipated somewhat once we reached our starting point, and light flurries started to fall just as we were getting back to our vehicles for the trip down the mountain. Snow conditions were excellent due to the previous day’s accumulation of a few inches of fresh powder.
We had a few people out for the first time this season, so the group was split between those who favoured a more relaxed pace with minimal elevation gain as opposed to those who wished more of a challenge. Using Raven Lodge as a base enabled participants to take a break, if they wished, or explore additional trails. Both groups met up at the Lodge at the end of their respective excursions for snacks and socializing.
Thanks to Bill Jorgensen, Katie Hubberstey and Cheryl McMahon for the photos. To see all of Bill Jorgensen's photos please click here.
