Today's walk was to Elk falls Provincial Park outside Campbell River.
We made our way to the suspension bridge and I got photos of the groups' shadows following them up and down the bridge at the far side. It was decided to forego the walk from the wooden bridge along the far side of the Campbell river as the parking areas were pretty full of cars when we passed that area on the way to see the suspension bridge. Instead, we continued on the trail to do the loop northwards to the far end of the Elk Falls trail loop and then down the switchback to view Moose and Deer Falls and on to the side lookout by Elk Falls. Here, we watched as an aerial trolley brought gravel halfway across the river just above and beyond the suspension bridge, at which point it opened to release the gravel so it would fall into the canyon waters to embellish the spawning grounds. This happened a few times while we were there. On back to our cars and off to Riptide for lunch. Cheryl sure enjoyed her dessert! Very nice day.
Thank you to Dawn for the blog and pictures. Tricia and I hope to be fit for next week!!!
