D-Day - June 6, 1944
The color photo shows a view of the seafront and Juno beach on May 5, 2014, in Bernieres-sur-Mer, France. Troops of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division land at Juno Beach on the outskirts of Bernieres-sur-Mer on D-Day, June 6, 1944. (Color photo by Peter Macdiarmid/Getty Images. Black and white photo by Galerie Bilderwelt/Getty Images.)
Note: At the Glacier PROBUS Club meeting on June 5th, we took time to remember D-Day, and several members told us their stories, either of living in Holland after the war, living in England during the war, or of their parents serving in the war. The photo above is a fitting reminder of the Canadians who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.
