Tricia Nicol reports on today’s gathering;
We had a good turnout for a rainy day at the start of February, and an excellent speaker, enjoyed by all.
Vice President John McIsaac opened the meeting and welcomed all those present. John said he hoped all
the members were aware that our President Michele Morton had been named Citizen of the Year and
offered her the club’s congratulations.
John then introduced Lindsay Sparkes, the Coordinator of the Finance Planning Group. Lindsay gave a most
interesting talk outlining the background of the Finance group and some of the many topics they hoped to
cover. It sounds like a group that we could all learn from.
John then introduced our speaker Fred Bigelow, CEO Comox Airport. Fred gave a most interesting and
informative talk about the airport, the finances of the running of the airport and the airlines who used it.
He spoke of some of their aspirations for expansion and growth of the airport. There were a number of
thoughtful questions which Fred answered in some detail.
The draw was made for the door prize, this month it was won by Lindsay Sparkes.
John thanked Fred for his talk and presented him with a small gift from the Glacier Probus Club. He
thanked everyone for coming and closed the meeting.
