Vice President John McIsaac opened the meeting and welcomed returning, new and prospective members to the first meeting of the 2014-15 season. John made a number of announcements but explained that the Management Committee had decided to limit business at the monthly meetings to ensure they stayed more sociable.
John then introduced Don Somers who made the presentations to the winners of the ‘Toonie Challenge’ that he had organised last March.
Bill Fradgley, coordinator of the ‘Murder Mystery’ group spoke about the format of the group and how the event worked. Bill then did the draw for the monthly door prize and the winner was Elaine Smith.
John then introduced Jack Minard from the Tsolum River Restoration Society who spoke about the history and restoration of the river as a fish habitat.
John closed the meeting and said he hoped to see many of the members out at the next meeting and reminded people that tickets for the Christmas Party would be on sale again at the October and November meetings. He said that the speaker for the October meeting is Tony Reynolds of L’Arche speaking on the ‘I Belong’ Campaign.
