Our speaker this month is – Jessica Torode-Scott– The Whales in Our Waters: Protecting B.C.’s Iconic Cetaceans through Research, Conservation, and Citizen Science
Jessica was born and raised in West Vancouver and was inspired to pursue a career in marine biology after many summer boating trips in Desolation Sound. She holds a BSc in Biology from the University of Victoria and a MSc in Marine and Fisheries Ecology from the University of Aberdeen. She worked for aquariums, wildlife centres, and conservation organizations in Canada, the US, and the United Kingdom before joining the Coastal Ocean Research Institute as the Coordinator of the B.C. Cetacean Sightings Network and the Project Manager of the Whale Report Alert System in 2017.
There will be a Registration Table where new members can collect their badges. Door Prize tickets (for $25.00 gift vouchers) will also be handed out.
