Glacier Probus Club
Monthly Gathering
2 November 2017
Vice President Tony Nicol welcomed everyone to the November Monthly Gathering and said he applauded those who had braved the snow to come out, he said it was unfortunate that the weather had reduced the numbers in attendance.
Tony said that the Bowling Event was on Friday 10th November at 7pm. 2 games-much fun-anyone gets over 150 buys the beer. He said that members could sign up on line and the page would be found under the ‘More’ button.
The Christmas Party is on Saturday 16th December at d”Esterre House Seniors Centre at 6.00pm. Good food-good company and excellent music and for those who have been to Robin’s very successful dance classes, a chance to show off their new moves.
Anyone who still has to make up their minds, can order and pay for tickets online-just look under the “More” button on the opening page of the Probus website.
Tony spoke of a new idea being proposed by the Management Committee to involve the members more in the Monthly Gatherings. The details will be posted separately on this page.
As November is Remembrance month, Tony said before he introduced our speaker, he would like to play a short video that appreciates the sacrifice made by so many for our benefit.
Tony introduced this month’s speaker Paul Horgen whose presentation was entitled “Tales of Kona the Guide Dog, the Anatomy of writing and self publishing a Children's book”.
Tony thanked Paul for his entertaining and informative discourse.
Tony and Dawn then drew the tickets for this month’s $25 gift vouchers, the winners were Alan Sabey and Gil Moore.
Tony thanked everyone for coming and wished then a safe journey home.
