Monthly Gathering
January 2017
President Katie Hubberstey welcomed everyone to the first meeting of 2017 and wished everyone a Happy New Year.
Katie introduced 5 new members to the club and one guest. She said she particularly wanted to thank all the Management Committee for all the work they did to keep the club running and also the Activity coordinators for all their hard work.
Katie then introduce Keith Millard the Club’s Technology Director. Keith said January was Robbie Burns month and in honour of that he showed two videos, one ‘addressing the Haggis” and the second one a traditional Scottish song.
Keith then spoke about the Club’s Calendar and how members could access and use it.
Sheila Precious profiled the Pub Group which showed too many of us were ‘fond of the drink and of not cooking’!
Katie then asked Tony Nicol to introduce this month’s speaker Jane Murphy CEO St Joseph’s Hospital. Jane said she was pleased to be able to come back to give us an update on the hospital situation. She gave a most interesting and informative talk about the new hospital and the prospects for St Joe’s. Jane then answered many questions from the audience.
Tony thanked Jane for her presentation and gave her a K’omok’s First Nations print as a thank you from the club.
Katie drew the tickets for the door prizes the winners of which were: Ray Fast and Nonie Macarthur.
Katie thanked everyone for coming and wished them a safe journey home.
